garlic, streamlined

This is completely random, but I had the pictures and thought I'd post this.

A while back I went to Costco with a friend (thanks Susanne!) and ended up buying a big container of garlic. I use a lot of garlic, I would say, but didn't need the quite amount that that container held. But the price difference between 2 heads of garlic from the grocery store and hundreds of cloves from Costco is so minimal it's ridiculous. So before the expiration date, I minced it all in the food processor, then froze it and broke off chunks (however much I needed) when I needed it.

I ran out of that garlic quite a few months ago but recently had Susanne pick up another container for me. This time I did the same thing, just a little more systematically: this time I froze it in a gallon-sized freezer bag, and then took the entire frozen block of garlic out of the bag (cut it off the frozen block) and cut it into clove- (or so) sized portions. Now, when I need it, I just reach into the ziplock bag and pull one (or more) out.

(I do, by the way, keep heads of garlic in the house on the occasion that a recipe calls for whole cloves. But most of the time, minced garlic can easily replace it!)
